Founded by Susan Bower, Bower Bird Productions was established to develop and produce new drama projects.

The company’s portfolio includes, a fantasy series for Tweens, six adult drama series and a situation comedy. Susan Bower recently travelled to Berlin and to London as part of Ausfilm Television Week pitching the company’s drama projects to Production Companies and Broadcasters. Susan remains in contact with several companies, as the interest in her projects is ongoing.

Susan Bower connects with student writers and those partly established through teaching and/or mentoring. Bower also offers services as a Script Doctor

The company has bought the rights to Susan Kurosawa’s novel Coronation Talkies and is developing a feature film and set of mini series.

Susan Bower is a committed and passionate supporter of Australian stories.

SUSAN BOWER

Susan Bower has worked in Australia as a writer, script editor, as part of many development teams, as a script producer, show runner, producer, executive producer and drama consultant on many television drama productions such as A Country Practice, Home and Away, Mirror Mirror, Sweat, Big Sky, All Saints, McLeod’s Daughters, Little Oberon, Sea Patrol, Canal Road, Neighbours and A Place To Call Home.

Susan worked with FremantleMedia Australia for four years as an Executive Producer of the serial drama Neighbours driving the evolution of both production and story telling to reach best business and creative practices; then a further one year with FMA as Drama Consultant. During this time Susan travelled extensively overseas attending drama conferences, observing several international television production studios and gaining experience in corporate business practices.

Bower headed up the successful writing team of A Place To Call Home during the transition from Network 7 (free to air) to Foxtel (cable)

MEMBERSHIPS

Susan Bower is a member of the Australian Writers Guild, Australian Academy Cinema Television and Arts and Screen Producers Australia.

Susan has been on the judging panel for the AWGIES, AACTA Television Awards and the Logie Peer Group Awards. She is a guest speaker and team teacher at AFTRS.
